Lyrically it's unimaginative, full of Christian style bigotry & arrogance. And as far as being Prog, they include many of the genre's cliches in between all the Pop Rock. But I am sure they think they mean well!

RIP Geordie, a son of the north east that will never go out.

The first KJ song I ever heard. On college radio--80s. Still an amazing song. The controversy over this album was between musicians (like me) and those that thought that KJ needed to be the junk metal bank that cavemen like. After watching Jaz and Geordie's brilliant and varied music career for the next 30+ years I can report that the musicians were vindicated.

Wow. Thank you for posting this. It made it possible for me to relive the times when, as a kid in the 80’s, I would listen to this track on my Walkman (the Audion Sampler) and stare up at the stars and the full moon. Somehow this track in particular captured my wonderment at the night sky, and still does. Such a great piece.

Back in pre-internet years I accidentally purchased this album via mail order and have loved it ever since.

I've tried to give the "restored" mixes version of Brighter Than a Thousand Suns multiple goes, especially as it's the one that has the band's blessing, but for me it just doesn't work. It's too dry, which kills the album's ethereal qualities, plus the mix sounds like its been "un-glued", i.e. the instruments are too separated and don't work coherently as a whole. On top of that the track Victory gets butchered down to three and a half minutes. The Mendelsohn mix, as heard here, might get slated for being too pop, but I feel it shows a better understanding of the material.

Around 1983 or so I had a nice Chinese lunch with Larry, Roger Powell of Utopia and Don Slepian. All of us were connected through Bell Laboratories and the Alles Synthesizer. My Dad worked at Bell Labs so I was fortunate enough to be able the play that beast. I only owned an EML-101 at the time.

First time I saw Scott HUkaby play was at a sweet little festival in the mountains of Oregon. Mind was blown. Then afterward he was just hanging out and partying with a group of us and watched the rest of the show with us. Phenomenal music, awesome guy.

Man, I bought this album in 1997 and it still floors me. Brilliant German artists... and Eno is no slouch either. It's the kind of wonderful soundscape that a person could write a movie script around. More accurately, the scenes would write themselves.
